Our
Tribute To
A
Legend

If I was to sit here and print all the reasons I have for admiring the Rt Hon. Robert Nesta Marley O.M...I would be here for days.

Bob Marley, to me, is the definition of the word Prophet. He "is" and will forever be...the King of Reggae Music...the voice for the speechless...the comforter for the weary...the humble lion...the lyrical warrior.

I know every Bob Marley song word for word...but more than just singing along, I take time to listen. Really listen. The message is within the music. Bob Marley has a song to fit whatever mood you are in. Find one and listen again.

"If you know your history...then you will know where you're coming from"...Bob Marley

This is February...the shortest month of the year...and the official "Black History Month"...well, we don't need "anyone" to give us a month, for us to have pride in our heritage. That, we need to do "all year".

The King of Reggae and the crowned Prince of Reggae, were both born in the month of February. Unfortunately, they are no longer walking among us. Bob Marley and Dennis Brown..."our" musical heroes. "We" thank you and "we" love you!!!

I have to say thanks and nuff appreciation to everyone who participated in this tribute.

My graphics designer Kat (New Jersey)...you did a remarkable job with the graphics above. Big up and bless up to you. (what a talented man and a good friend you are)... Jessica and Sandy, web and graphics designers, you are always there...all the time...BIG UP and thanks a million!!!

Bob Marley and Dennis Brown...thank you so much...where would music be without you two?...

Before I go...if any man reading wants to be considered a King...he'd better be prepared to "earn" that crown!!!

Bob Marley is spiritual, positive..a man before his time. Lyrically radical and inspirational by the messages in his songs. A man that is not here in body, but his songs gives strength, spiritual growth and understanding with no exception to the rule.

I never knew Bob Marley until after his death. When my daughter and I started studying Reggae. As we learn your songs and sing your tunes. We have grown to see you as you were still on Earth with your fans through your sons. Your name lives on in them. You are a Reggae legend indeed. We know you died too soon.

Bob Marley means a lot of things to us ... The man had a great talent and he exploited that talent by using an international forum known as reggae music. If it wasn't for Bob Marley reggae might not even be as big as it is now. We still listen to his music as if it was in steady rotation at a mainstream radio station. We at Soundwave would like to say Happy Birthday to an icon. Happy Birthday Bob Marley!

Bob to me was more than just a superstar; he was a maverick. He knew his calling and he answered with conviction. "Dem a go tyad fi si mi face" - these are the words of a man who knew that his spirit would continue to hover over the earth, from the Caribbean to the Americas, from Europe to Africa, from the Middle East to Asia. Bob breathed life into every line I have ever heard him sing. His music continues to give birth to positivity generations after his death. This makes me proud to be a singer from that same little island, Jamaica. Happy Birthday, Bob! You are truly a legend!

BOB MARLEY HAS ALWAYS BEEN AN UPLIFTER FOR ME AND HE REMAINS ALWAYS INSIDE MY RADIO CD PLAYER. whenever THERE IS A NEED FOR UPLIFTING I JUST PRESS PLAY. IT TOOK ME AFTER HIS DEATH TO RECOGNIZE HIS POWER THAT STILL RESIDES ON THIS EARTH ALTHOUGH HE DOES NOT. HE HAS LEFT THE WORLD STILL WITH A POWERFUL MESSAGE THAT WE CAN RISE ABOVE THE REDEMPTION OF THIS WORLD. BOB MARLEY DESERVES TO CONTINUE TO BE ACKNOWLEDGE BECAUSE HE IS THE # 1 DON DA DA OF ALL TIMES.

I Marsha Morrison can say that I've never listened to a Bob Marley song and felt anger or anything negative, it is my opinion that strength and positivity is in this mans timeless music. "there's a natural mystic blowing through the air if you listen carefully now you will hear".

I have one regret. I have never seen Bob Marley perform live. If he was here now, a lot of this crap in the music industry wouldn't be going on. He would definitely have something to say. Happy Birthday Bob!

My very personal tribute to Bob Marley!
" You can`t write about Bob", was the first reaction I got when I told a friend about the tribute that was about to happen on celebrityplus. I`ve heard remarks like that before, " You can`t understand his message…Bob was writing his music for black people only, " and me being just a white girl from Germany, I wasn`t supposed to tell my opinion at all. But I will, because Bob Marley had a deep impact on me and even though I am European and grew up in a "white" world, I think I am one example of how Bob Marley brought the people closer together and touched all people.

I can`t really tell an exact point in my life when I heard his music for the first time but it must have been in my early teenage days. I had just started to learn English so I wouldn`t say I listened consciously to his lyrics but I was drawn to the music and I loved it! I heard Keith Richards of the Rolling Stones in an interview, saying, that Reggae has an universal beat and this beat touches us all, no matter if we are black, white, yellow, green or blue, because it is taking us all back to all our roots in Africa. And obviously the beat touched me! It was making me feel good, get up and dance.

When I got older and my English became better, I certainly discovered Bob Marley a second time being able to actually understand what he was saying. He made me see the world in a different light and I was starting to begin to question things and I started getting interested in black culture. I wanted to really understand what he was saying and what was happening! He certainly opened my eyes to a lot of things that most people are too ignorant to see, even today. Of course, I started going to Reggae clubs and met so many nice people from all over the world. Bobs` music brought them all together and that`s where I see his biggest success: teaching love, bringing people together and opening their eyes.

As for the music, well is there anything better? Songs like "No woman, No cry", "Buffalo Soldier" or "Turn your lights down low" are known and liked all over the world. Have you ever heard anyone say that they DON`T like Bob Marley? Right, I haven`t. Which other artist do you know that can say that about himself/herself? Also, personally, I think his popularity is well underestimated to this day! Maybe not everyone has a cd of him at home but he is known everywhere. I`ve been to France, GB, Italy, Spain, basically all over Europe, know people from all parts of Africa, Asia, the States. I haven`t met one person, no matter from which part of the world, that doesn`t know him! That alone is an achievement he needs to be honored for.

That he was indeed a man that had a vision and reached people all over the world with his message and was therefore considered dangerous enough to certain groups of people, that were and have been in power, becomes clear in the fact that actually the CIA did observe him and has files on him. I won`t go into conspiracy theories concerning the shooting in Dec. 1976 as this is neither the time nor place to do so. Robert Nesta Marley just was a true revolutionary and his message is still being spread through his music and with every new generation that discovers him, his vision will be a step closer!
